Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy
At GGS, every child has the right to feel safe, respected and protected. This parent and student guide explains how safeguarding works and what students and parents should know.
Children’s rights
- To be safe from harm, abuse and neglect.
- To be treated with respect and dignity.
- To have their voices heard.
- To learn and grow in a safe environment.
How students can stay safe
- Speak to a trusted teacher or boarding staff member if you feel unsafe.
- Use the anonymous reporting box if you do not want to give your name.
- Follow school rules for safe behaviour online and offline.
- Always respect other students’ safety and wellbeing.
Parents’ role
- Support the school’s safeguarding rules and values.
- Talk with your child regularly about safety, respect and responsible behaviour.
- Report any concerns immediately to school leadership.
- Attend safeguarding awareness sessions and workshops organised by the school.
Reporting concerns
- Any suspicion or concern of harm must be reported within 24 hours.
- Students or parents can report to a teacher, boarding staff or senior admin staff.
- The school will act quickly, confidentially and fairly.
- Serious cases are referred to the Lukautim Pikinini Office (LPA) and the Police.
Our safeguarding promise
GGS will always:
- Put the child’s best interests first.
- Protect the identity of those who report concerns.
- Provide safe spaces for students in classrooms, dormitories and online.
- Train staff every year to keep students safe.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Together, we make GGS a safe school.
